As the rulebook says. Bonuses only count when the bid is made.

“Cards”: the number of cards dealt to each player that round.

The app won’t accept what the deck can’t allow: three colored 14s, two mermaids and one Skull King in all; only one player captures pirates with the Skull King.

Pick the format when you create the game: Classic (10 rounds, 1 to 10 cards), Even Keel, Ready for Battle, Skirmish, Broadside, Whirlpool and Bedtime, the rulebook’s “voyages”. With 7 or 8 players, the deck can’t deal 10 cards each: the app deals what the deck allows in the last rounds.

The rulebook variant is picked when you create the game. Exact bid: 10 points per card dealt and all bonuses; one trick off: half; more: nothing. With the Cannonball, each player may, after bidding, play “closed fist”: 15 points per card if the bid is exact (bonuses included), nothing otherwise. Grapeshot, open hand, is regular Rascal scoring.

Advanced cards are ticked one by one when you create the game. The Kraken and the White Whale can each make one trick disappear: the tricks may then add up to fewer than the cards dealt, and the app allows for it.

The rulebook brings in Greybeard, a ghost pirate who is dealt a hand and takes tricks. So the app accepts that your two players take fewer tricks than the cards dealt.

The rulebook doesn’t say who deals first: the app draws the first dealer when you create the game (or you pick one). After that, the deal passes left every round, and the player to the dealer’s left leads the first trick. The table reminds you.

After the format’s last round, the highest total wins. The rulebook says nothing about ties: every tied player is crowned.

Before entering the tricks, tap “…” then “Edit bids”. For a round already entered, “…” then “Correct a round”: bids, tricks and bonuses can be fixed, and totals and the leaderboard are recalculated.

Tap “…” then “Manage players”. The rules don’t cover this: a player who joins starts from the lowest total at the table, neither ahead nor out of reach. A player who leaves after bidding finishes the current round; their rounds stay in the history, but they leave the game’s standings.

Check Settings › Comptes SK › Live Activities. The game shows while a game in progress is open in the app.

Only on your iPhone. They don’t sync between devices, and deleting the app erases them. See the privacy policy.

A one-time purchase, no subscription, that unlocks the all-time leaderboard (wins, bids made, average, bonuses, table titles and records) and a profile for every player (their rank, form, bids, bonuses, head-to-heads and records). Everything else in the app is free. The purchase is shared with your family (Family Sharing).

Tap the trophy or Settings › Skull King’s Ledger+, then “Restore Purchases”: the purchase comes back with your Apple Account, no need to pay again. Your games, however, are not transferred.
